This Movado Series 800 stainless steel, Swiss quartz watch for men has a large, round watch case, which is made from performance steel–a higher grade of stainless steel that provides splendid durability and strength. Additionally, the low nickel content in this surgical steel quality offers bettered hypoallergenicity. The flat black dial is complemented by silver stick hour markers with luminous tips, ultra-svelte silver bar hands with thin luminous lines (and a seconds hand), little minute indexes, and a date window at 3 o’clock. A black interior ring that slopes inward from the polished silver bezel includes a finish Arabic numeral readout. This precisely timed watch has a Swiss-made quartz movement, which is exact to 60 seconds per year. Other features include a sapphire glass crystal for optimal scratch resistance, screw down crown for greatest or most complete or best possible protection, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)–which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving. It’s finished by a handsome stainless steel bracelet band, which includes a fold over safety bar at the clasp for added security while taking part in active pursuits. The Movado StoryThe art of Movado is the art of design. Since it is founding in 1881 by 19-year old enterpriser Achille Ditesheim in the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Movado has achieved a bequest of design innovation, earning more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for artistry and innovation in watch design and time technology. Movado, meaning “always in motion” in the global language of Esperanto, is the hallmark of some of the most widely known and esteemed timepieces ever created: the 1912 Polyplan, it is revolutionary, patented motion constructed on three planes to fit a case curved to follow the wrist…the WWI Soldier’s Watch with it is elegant, protective grill…the 1927 Ermeto, a capsule-shaped pocket watch wound by the sliding motion of it is case…the innovative 1950’s Kingmatic series of rotor-driven automatics…the Movado Artist’s Series by luminaries of the fine art world…and the Movado Museum® Watch with it is legendary dial. Defined by a single dot at 12 representing the sun at high noon, the Museum Watch dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. It was designed by Bauhaus-influenced artisan Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. When Horwitt’s dial was chosen for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it was the firstborn watch dial ever awarded this distinction. The name “Museum Watch” derives from this recognition. Today, Movado watches are in prominent museums worldwide, and this legendary dial distinguishes an entire collection of singular timepieces. The Movado Boutiques extend the Movado brand system of belief of design innovation beyond watches to a range of productions for innovative living.
