The Eterna StoryWhat, in 1856, set out as a factory developing blank movements, in time, grew into a mature manufacturing enterprise thanks to the resourcefulness and persistent determination of founding collaborator Urs Schild. As a family-owned company, Eterna has remained faithful to it is firstborn doctrine – that of perfecting the classic art of watchmaking. It has managed this with outstanding aplomb, as may be seen from the series of mileposts that have marked the past 150 years.
In 1995 the company was taken over by the Porsche Family. Since then , designers, watchmakers and engineers have been collaborating on merchandise designed to keep Eterna and it is inheritance of tradition at the forefront of progress – merchandise such as Porsche Design’s high-end, high-performance timepieces.

On the road to perfecting the time-honored watchmaker’s art, our craftspeople make use of highly precise and cutting-edge technology. From the initial conception of a motion to it is series manufacture, we deploy the latest in engineering and computing engineering science to fetch our new design solutions to fruition. Testing at each stage of development helps guarantee the full functionality of our timepieces. Engineers, prototype builders and watchmakers are all involved in equivalent measure in this creation routine – the psychological result of perception learning and reasoning they part carries watchmaking to new heights of mechanical perfection.
Unadulterated, time-honored craftsmanship is a defining feature of established watchmaking. It is at the heart of our formulating capability from the time of our company’s founding in 1856. A number of our masterworks would never have seen the light of day were it not for the knowledge, experience and consummate skill of our watchmakers.
