The Casio StoryWith the launch of it is introductory watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just came upon digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology devised for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field convinced that it could fabricate timepieces that would lead the market.

In fabricating it is own wristwatches Casio started out with the basic question, “”What is a wristwatch?”" Rather than plainly making a digital version of the traditionalisti mechanical watch, we thought that the idealisti wristwatch ought to be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was capable to construct a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the initial watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that annihilated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a traditionalisti watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s initial digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a finish departure from the established wristwatch.

Casio transformed the conception of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an info device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this progressed idea. We invented not only time functions such as global time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches devised into two distinctive Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was without delay recognized, and it is distinctive look, which embodied it is functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted respective new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend established thinking in regards to the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing it is attempts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery does away with the aggravation of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping engineering science similar to the affect produced when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and bettered energy efficiency, Casio proceeds to develop a whole range of radio-controlled models.

Why you ought to buy this watch:

1) Lightweight: You’ll forget your wearing it.

2) Thin: Most of the thin watches I see are designed for girls. I may assert that wearing this watch will not lose your manliness.

3) Simple: If you want more, glue a smartphone to your wrist. Then repeatedly bang your head on it.

4) Quality: It’s Casio (okay okay Gshock is awful, but lets pretend that was an accident).

5) Looks: Retro classic professional nerdy sporty all in one. I personally feel like I belong to a special club when I wear this.

5I LOVE THIS WATCH – and I’m a female :-)
By C. Bennett
I’ve been wearing this watch since high school (over 15 years ago). I purchased it for track so I could pace my practices. I can’t find any watch out there that has the countdown feature that repeats, so I may set it to ding at me each 3 minutes or 2 hours or whatever. I love the digital – it’s easy to read in a pinch. And I’m not genuinely conscious of time, so the every hour alarm actually helps me keep track. I do agree that it is not the most beautiful watch – particularly for a female, but I just can’t get sufficient of this light-weight, easy to use watch. I’ve had in all probability 5 of this precise watch. I lost my last two and I’ve worn out the rest. I undertake to wear other watches.. analog, silver, gold… that are more fashionable, but I just can’t break away from this watch. I was heartbroken when Target stopped retail it, and elated when I found it on the web. I’m excessively affected emotionally to know it’s a 20 year old design… that way I may be convinced that it will be around for a while. If not, I’d buy 50 more so I could make sure I always had one! That’s how much I LOVE this watch… I just ordered it off this web site after being without it for a year (did I mention Target?) and I can not wait for it to arrive!! I must have purchased 2…

5Durable, Functional and Long Lasting. Well worth the money
By E. Ham
I’ve applied this model for past 10+ years. I don’t do not forget when I primary employed this one, but the last one I had at long last passed away after regarding 10 years, earlier this spring. So, I purchased another one, incisively same model. I don’t do not forget whether I had this model or another for less model before the former one.

But the former one went with me from the cold winters of Chicago to the sizzling summers of Iraq where temperature was well over 140+ degrees (I know this b/c others with Suunto watch with thermometer told me). Used it when I was swimming, kayaking, running, biking, etc. etc. I do not forget altering the battery at least once and changed the strap 2 or 3 times.

So, when the last one passed away in April of 2005, I went out and purchased another one. This one must last another 10 years. What more may you ask for for $20?
