    5Durable, Sleek, Great Battery Life.
    By AmazonShopper
I have had this watch for 4+ years and it passed away today. It appears that water leaked into the housing and corroded the terminals that provide data to the LCD screen…thus making it so a 3 and a 9 look the same. However, I am convinced that this was an old age problem and not a Timex problem. FYI the waterproof is only supposed to last a few years at most on all watches.

    1) Durable- It endured a ton of scuffs and scratches on the plastic front and did not hinder the looking at of digits. While taking this watch detached to diagnose it, it is guts are VERY solidly put together…even the battery took a few minutes to get out. The buttons never started “sticking” like most other (cheap) watches do after old age.
    2) Sleek- Numbers are big and easy to read. No watch ought to be without a date and day-of-the week display and this one is no exception. The face is MEDIUM sized…great for humans like me with littler wrists (man) or humans who don’t want to construct an eye-sore on their wrist. The face is covered with a silvery tan paint that in the long run flaked off, but the plastic under it was likewise tan colored. That made it so it looked the same even after the paint came off. The buttons are wide and easy to push.
3)Great battery life- The cited duration of the battery is only 3.2 years, according to [...]. I have not had to change the battery yet after 4+ years.
4)Band – The only partially bad thing I may say in regards to it is that the band is Velcro. Velcro loses it’s “grip” after being taken on-and-off 400 times. Thus you will have to replace the strap each year or so for when it comes to 5-10 dollars if you want that firm grip again. I still think the band is the best I ever applied because it is easy on/off and doesn’t snap like metal, tear like leather, or lose springs like those latchless metal ones. Completely worth the cost of replacement.

I am unquestionably planning on buying another one of this watch. Absolutely love it. The fact that it is only $28 and free shipping is even better.

EDIT: I did buy another one of these a little under 2 years ago…same story…face is scuffed up but display still effortlessly readable. Paint is just now starting to peel. I’m likewise adding data with regards to altering the strap since somebody asked with regards to it in the comments.

The bands are sold at Kohl’s (department store) and I think I saw them at walmart. If you can’t find them at walmart or don’t have a kohl’s, just try respective watch stores and jewelery counters- look for them on spinning carousels on the counters. The strap is held in to the body by 2 silver spring-loaded bars on the back. I take a very little flat head and push the spring half in and working it out until the spring comes free (careful because the spring bar will shoot out- substitute band comes with 2 new spring bars so don’t worry if you lose them). Repeat for the other spring bar. When looking for the alternate band, be sure to take the old one with you. Some bands have a somewhat thicker “stretchy” portion than others and this may make it a pain to alter out (it’s possible though). I think the one I get is labeled as “6-8 mm” but I’m not positive. Thinking when it comes to it, 6-8 is the one the “petite” version of this watch comes with (smaller face- what I wear)..8-10 mm might be what comes on the regular version. You then install the substitute in the reverse order as removal…hold the stretchy part in the slot then put the spring bar over it and make sure it is ends gets in the holes.

PS: The substitute band also comes with picture instructions but we all know given instructions commonly aren’t very user friendly.

Cost of substitute band: 7[...]. Total time to modify out band: < 5 minutes.

EDIT: 3 years after primary review.

RE: Can I alter the battery?
Of course you may change the battery. There’s 4 tiny Phillips screws on the back and the back (stainless steel) will come off once they are removed. You might need a little flathead driver to pry the backing off since it is meant to be watertight. It may take a bit of fanaggling (as I cited in the review the guts are put together actually well) but the battery is replaceable.

PS – Once you alter the battery I’m beauteous sure you may not put the watch underwater anymore. I know you may get waterproofing redone in a professional manner (watch repair shop) though. I’m in truth paranoid when it comes to “waterproof” watches so I never took mine swimming or showering at all. It would from time to time get splashed on while I was washing my hands but that was it.

And in case anybody is wondering…I’m still wearing the same watch (second one) with the original battery- 3 years old now.

4Great watch, but the band is a little small.
    By J. Robinson
Overall I am satisfied with this watch. I purchased it to replace a Timex Iron Man watch I have had for the last sixteen years. The watch is very readable even at steep angles. All of the controls are intuitive and conveniently placed. Buyers will have to recognise that the watch band may feel a bit tight on more spectacular wrists, however. I am 6’7″ and with regards to 285. About the last inch of the band is a thick rubbery material and so can not be adjusted down all the way to the end. I would commend this to all but those with the biggest wrists.
