The Skagen Story
The History of Skagen Designs In 1987, Henrik and Charlotte Jorst came to the United States from their native Denmark to follow a dream: that of owning and running their own business. Skagen Designs was founded by these two natives of Copenhagen on the principle that beautifully designed, high-quality objects may be invented at reasonable prices. The Skagen Collection of watches reflects the Jorsts’ originative Danish spirit with clean, graceful designs, skillful craftsmanship and technical perfection. When you buy a piece from the Skagen Collection, you become portion of an global community of Skagen owners who believe in a doctrine of design and fabricating excellence.
Skagen Trend Spotting In the market place, time never stands still and so our innovation never sits idle. Our design team is on the pulse of current fashions, with regular visits to design centers of the world including Denmark, Switzerland,Italy, France, New York and Hong Kong. We are never content to follow traditionalisti trends. We stay unfeigned to our classic design doctrine and interpret trends accordingly. We observe, listen and innovate – all to give rise to lasting design pieces.
The Result The production of such lasting design pieces many times demands particular processes and tooling. These are many times a challenge to create; however, we are never satisfied with “close enough”. We continually push and fine-tune designs to stay true to our standards. We recognise what we want and are not satisfied until the design, material and workmanship are all just right. The result of such hard work and commitment speak for themselves in the jaw dropping exuberance and excitement devised whenever any individual views our product line. |

Cleaning Your Skagen Watch Skagen proposes the following solutions for cleaning metal and crystal surfaces:
3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water
4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water.
Do not use soap products.
These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces. Soap will leave residue behind when dry.
To clean the case and crystal: Moisten a soft cloth with one of the above solutions. Gently wipe the case and crystal clean. Be careful not to put too much stress on the crystal as you clean. *NEVER immerse or soak the case/crystal percentage of the watch, irrespective of water resistance rating. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.
To clean the band or strap: Skagen soft mesh bands are effortlessly adjustable. Simply insert a little screwdriver or similar tool into the clasp. Lift up the clasp without applying pressure to the thin pin all over the clasp and move to desired position. Snap closed securely. Make sure the clasp is set in one of the indentations on the back of the band. Link bands are completely adaptable anyplace watches are serviced.
Skagen proposes the following exercises for cleaning metal, rubber and leather surfaces:
Metal watchbands Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it into the soiled percentage of the band. For more intricate mesh bands, you may want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to cover the case of the watch for the duration of this procedure so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you may want to fetch it to a jeweler for a professional cleaning.
Rubber watchstraps Simply wipe them down with a damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may arid or crack the plastic.
Leather watchstraps: Top Grain Top grain leather may be characterized by it is smooth, more or less shiny appearance. To clean this type of leather, follow the same routine as with the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, using water only. You may want to use leather conditioner or a little amount of hand lotion to keep the leather supple over time. Top grain leather may give rise to a milky “haze” if left alone for extended periods. This may plainly be wiped away or got rid of with leather conditioner.
Leather watchstraps: Nubuck This is fundamentally full grain leather with the top layer shaved off, leaving a flat, smooth finish. A product called a “nubuck eraser” may be found at better shoe repair shops. It will help to remove most light stains and debris from nubuck.

exceeds expectations By diogenes Overall, this is a rather smart looking watch. It boasts fine, subdued lines, a matte finish that is not overly garish, and the carbon fiber accent is not overstated as they so oftentimes are. The watch is very light, keeping it from doing circuits around your wrist as you move your arms when it comes to (a feature exceptionally primary to mediterranean-grade gesticulators like myself). And the band proves to be very comfortable. The only drawbacks, if one could even label them as such, are as follows: -the woven metal band have a tendancy to trap lint, threads, and all manner of particulate matter in a manner most difficult to remove. -the glowing watch hands tend to be short-lived after the light fails. And lastly: -the watch overall is a fragile piece, given the broad, thin glass, etc…but it is not incisively a combat timepiece, so I hesitate to have even brought up this. All in all, it is a good watch, at the right price. It exceeded my expected values for the price range, being so refined and tasteful and stylish a piece, but if you’re looking for sheer perfection, durability, etc…then frankly, you must perhaps look beyond the $100-$200 range of watches.

Nice looking watch By J. Cedeno I love the fact that it is so lightweight, the face on this watch looks great. The band is smooth and so far I have no complaints.

Super Sporty and Unique Watch By Sambath Pech I gather watches and presently have 8 Skagen watches. For the money, I think Skagen’s are worth everything you compensate for – it without apparent effort looks as highpriced as other watches in the $300 price range. This is my bestloved Skagen so far. The watch is the most UNIQUE in my collection of 25 watches because of it is carbon fiber dial. I mean, how a great deal of watches have you seen that has a carbon fiber dial? And yes, it appears to be real carbon fiber and not just an imprint/faux carbon fiber. It’s definately real because when you look at it from a slanted angle, you may see the carbon fiber threads underneath the gloss that they put over carbon fiber (to protect the fibers from fading). So you see that 3D illusion when you tilt it back and forth. Now this is the downside – because of that 3D effect, whenever I get look at the tiny date dials – I kinda get dizzy. But other than that, it’s one of the most without apparent effort readable dials deispite how little the dials are. I haven’t had this watch long sufficient to test how precise the time keeping is, but from my other Skagen’s, they keep time REALLY WELL. One of my Skagen’s is with regards to 3 years old (still running on it is basi batteries), and it loses only with regards to 1 minute each half year (I have to re-adjust the time each 6 months because of daylight savings time, so I cannot say how well it keeps time over a one year time span). And “sporty” is an understatement – it looks like it’s something from the future. I likewise have very little wrists (~5.25 inch circumference) and with the face of the watch at 41mm, it doesn’t even huge on my wrists. If you’re looking for that one UNIQUE watch, definatlely take a look at this model.
