The Casio StoryWith the launch of it is initial watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just came upon digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology formulated for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field convinced that it could give rise to timepieces that would lead the market.

In manufacturing it is own wristwatches Casio started out with the basic question, “”What is a wristwatch?”" Rather than merely making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the idealisti wristwatch must be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was capable to develop a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the basi watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that annihilated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a established watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s initial digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a finish departure from the traditionalisti wristwatch.

Casio transformed the conception of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an selective information device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this modern idea. We produced not only time functions such as international time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches produced into two distinctive Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was without delay recognized, and it is distinctive look, which embodied it is functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted respective new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend established thinking with regards to the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing it is attempts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery does away with the botheration of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the affect formulated when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and bettered energy efficiency, Casio proceeds to fabricate a whole range of radio-controlled models.

5My Dream Watch!
By YK2007
When I opened the package, I was amazed with how this watch looked even better than it did on the web sites. The three little windows on the face are easy to see, but are not as bright as they look in the picture. The silver frame around the face and the hands stand out in a dark background, which is so cool! This watch is not little like baby-G, but is compact and looks like all you need for daily life is packed inside.

The atomic scheme and solar power are genuinely commodious as other reviewers describe them, and you don’t have to do anything to keep this watch working accurately. I just grab it and put it on my wrist in the morning! Even altho it’s casual, it may be worn for work as well as recreation. Of course, this is G-Shock, so you don’t have to worry with regards to doing harm to it at all, while washing your hands, taking a nap, and even playing sports in the rain!

Personally, I like analog watches better than digital ones because you may quickly see the time in stead of having to picture the clock face in your head. But it’s commodious to have digital display, too, to view the precise minutes and seconds. This watch is basically analog, but has digital display, as well, so you may take pleasure in the best of both worlds! Just a note, this watch doesn’t have second hand (but you may see seconds on the digital display), and the minute hand moves each twenty seconds. It’s kinda fun to watch.

The only change that I would make is to have the whole face illuminated, including digital display. The LED light only lights up the analog share of the watch from the bottom of the watch face, and you cannot see the digital display in the dark (You may see the analog percentage distinctly without any trouble). So you shouldn’t suppose to set the alarm in the dark.

But over all, I’m rather satisfied with this watch and would commend it to any person looking for a tough, reliable, and good looking timepiece.

5Durable, sporty and light
By Andrew Villavicencio
I was attempting to determine amidst this one and the AWG101. Biggest divergence I could see were the bezels and color, not worth the extra $20.00 or so. This watch is genuinely nice looking, very light yet solidly built. I pretty much do not take it off. One of the best features is the solar re-charging. I do not recognise how numerous Ironman’s or other sport watches I have ruined by replacing the battery and breaking the seal. Kind of freaky when I basi took this watch out of the box and it started to set itself, then stopped at the precise time!! COOL. A little bulky, but not huge. The light is fine, it does what it is supposed to do and is a cool orange. Great watch and highly recommended!

4Great basic watch
By Brian G. Peirce
I use this watch for each day use as Casio’s tend to be closely indestructable. Solar recharging works great but it took me a while to find a spot in the house where the watch could find the atomic clock signal. This is in all probability only a coastal issue as I am on the outskirts of the signal area. I would highly commend it.
