In the 1970s, a decade before bumper stickers and T-shirts bearing the phrase Eddie Would Go begun popping up all over the Hawaiian islands and all around the surfing world, Eddie Aikau was proving what it meant to be a “waterman.” As a fearless and gifted surfer, he rode the biggest waves in the world; as the primary and most widely known and esteemed Waimea Bay lifeguard on the North Shore, he saved hundreds of lives from it is treacherous waters; and as a proud Hawaiian, he sacrificed his life to save the crew aboard the voyaging canoe Hokule’a.

Eddie Would Go is the compelling story of Eddie Aikau’s legendary life and legacy, a pipeline into the exhilarating world of surfing, and an important chronicle of the Hawaiian Renaissance and the emergence of innovative Hawaii.

From Publishers WeeklyEddie Aikau was the most widely known and esteemed and valued Hawaiian surfer since the legendary Duke Kahanamoku brought surfing to national attention in the 1920s. Coleman’s thoughtful and elaborate biography is the best look at Aikau’s story since the surfer passed away in 1978 paddling for aid after the historic Canoe Hokulea (a twin-hulled boat modeled after the ancient Polynesian vessels that brought the initial settlers to the islands of Hawaii) was capsized in a huge storm. Coleman brings his attainments as an essayist and poetical to weave the a heap of strands of Aikau’s life into a consistent picture of how Aikau’s story “was likewise the story of innovative Hawai’i.” Coleman nicely describes how Aikau-born in 1946 into a “spiritually divided” postwar Hawaiian culture torn among “Hawai’ian roots and American dreams”-helped define a new effigy of Hawaii in the 1950s and ’60s, as percentage of the firstborn modern surfing expeditions to the Oahu’s North Shore and it is big waves at the now-classic Pipeline and Waimea Bay beaches. (“Eddie would go” is now the ordinary surfing phrase employed to determine if a surfer must try to ride a in particular daunting wave.) Coleman shows how Aikau’s life amid 1967 and 1977 was “a strange mix of calm and chaos,” with Aikau working as a Waimea Bay lifeguard among local and global surf competitions, culminating in his winning the esteemed Duke Kahanamoku Classic in 1977. But Coleman likewise smartly observes how Aikau’s desire to join the crew of the voyaging Hokulea-which was attempting to show that ancient Polynesian sailors had on purpose sailed to the islands-was itself an example of the resurgent interest by Hawaiians to explore and reclaim their cultural identity and further added to Aikau’s ongoing status as a Hawaiian hero.

This book is excellent! Well written and gripping. The hero of this book is Eddie’s father who is unfeigned to the Aloha Spirit. Of course the book is regarding Eddie Aikau but the back story is Hawaiian waterman and the love Hawaiians have for the water, family and friends.

Finance a car, some furniture, a computer anything from anyone that reports to the credit bureaus and make at least 12 payments before you pay it off.

And yes keep your credit cards and use them for every day things, never exceed 30% of your credit limit and pay them off in full before the due date.

Don’t close the accounts. You will lose the histories, which give you points.

I think you are confused about what is involved in having your “credit report clear sometime this year”. Information about a debt can remain on your credit report even after it has been paid. If it was not paid on time, then it continues to hurt your credit for 7 years, even if has already been paid late.

    why would you want to?
Pay your bills and stop obsessing with the I love debt socre.
You will get nothing but debt.
All it’s good for is getting into debt.

you have to borrow money and pay it back so you can get a high I love debt score so you can borrow more money and pay interest and make payments.

    It’s a stupid game.

    Pay as you go.
Live on less money than you make.
    You will have money.
